Message: I was actually supposed to fly to New York the morning Zachary was born! About 5 hours after his birth actually...! Family is always more important than any job, so I canceled the flight and therefore did not take the retest. I called the human resources department and they said that I needed to send them a letter stating why I was not able to attend and also provide proof of my reason, and that if another retest comes available that I will be able to attend that one instead. The catch is this: the ONLY way they schedule additional retests is if someone in the military was scheduled for this retest but was unable to take it due to a military obligation. Even if it is just one person, they'll schedule a whole new test for them, and I'll be able to take it that day as well. Apparently the birth of a child does not weigh in as much as a military duty! If another test becomes available I will take it. If not, I guess it wasn't mean to be anyway. Quite honestly if they won't let me have a different retest date because I had to be here for my family on the original date, maybe that's not the type of employer I would even want to work for anyway. But we'll see what happens. Thanks for asking! =-)
