So...driving in to work today...there were a few places in pittsford where the water was flowing over the road....4-12 inches of it. 10 minutes later it was gone.... *hides from the water* Hows your basement?

Pittsford was sinking? That's not good.. There was a news advisory not to go out driving due to flash flooding =-)
The basement is fine... Since you last saw it we have figured a few things out - the gutters outside do not empty into the hole in the basement, but rather into the sewer system under the street. The water that was flowing into that hole in the basement was actually a broken water pipe outside the house...! People have since come out and dug a deep hole in the yard, fixed the pipe, and now have left a huge pile of dirt where the hole was... not sure why... but the basement no longer has water flowing into it... which is good because if that sump-pump crapped out the place would have flooded rather fast....
